You always hear them give the line that all business is set up like a pyramid to justify that mlm is built on recruiting people.

While real business has fewer people in high earning roles, it seems MLMers miss the very obvious point that even a lowly janitor at McDonald’s doesn’t have to recruit 5 other janitors to make a living wage.

Do people in MLM really think its the same? Do they really miss the point that real business doesn’t have to keep hiring people for infinity to keep making money for its employees?

It just seems such an obvious difference, yet it makes no sense that people in MLM are convinced it is the same.
Andre – while you are correct about the legality, let’s not let the absurdidty of the whole thing get lost on us.

The fact that MLM gets around being illegal and not a straight pyramid scheme is ONLY becuase there are products and services available to be sold by the reps; however, the fact is nealry all MLMers focus their attention on recruiting others instead of sales – meaning although it is legal for all intents and purposes it is virtually the same.

If MLM companies wanted to put the focus on personal sales instead of recruiting then how can you expalin that ALL MLM compensation plans allow you to move up the ranks ONLY by recruiting others. You can be the worlds best salesperson but unless you recruit other people you can’t obtain the top rank in any MLM compensation plan.

Let’s get serious, they are the same, depsite anyone considering it "legal" or not.
L.F.Heap – you spent spent your entire answer describing any sales company.

Evidently the point of this question was lost on you because if MLM was focused on sales and not recruiting then there would be no issue.

The question was in reference to the fact that MLM push recruiting, and weigh it as FAR more important than personal sales, and the evidence is in the MLM compensation plans.

that is the problem of MLM or anything similar such as paid survey, paid to read email and etc. those kind of programs only benefit the top level people and its creator. their products are very low quality. the reason the products exist is to legalize the scheme.

most of us want to generate money from the products not to recruit people. now MLM type program are introducing new term to attract people who already don’t believe with MLM. and this kind program or systems will never work because system can be copied and improved so over time it will die down when new better payment plan come in to compete and take over their popularity.

so it is just a waste of time. we are giving them free advertising and real estate value to their website. and what we get? lost precious time and money. but unfortunately it will always exist because there are to many people want quick and easy way to get rich. and these people are the targeted traffic for MLM.

What is an effective way to market my MLM business?

Have found a good business model, an ethical company and a product that has improved my health dramatically. Apart from sharing with family and friends – are there any other suggestions that don’t cost the earth. I’m not very computer savvy, so any practical help would be very much appreciated.

There are ways to build your business online by creating a website that attracts like minded people. Whether you want to promote your opportunity or share the product that has helped you health. There are web hosts that can help you get it up even though you are not computer savvy. You can look in my profile here. My wife and I have built a website around a specific product in health and wellness. We get visitors to it consistently and it continues to grow each month. The web host that I use also has great examples and tips at http://networkmarketing.sitesell.com/UnstoppableDreams.html
I would be happy to share some tips as well.

BEST WISHES!

I see on the internet that there are so many multi-level marketing home businesses out there even though you never hear anyone in your personal circle talking about them. I started one and it is awesome. Just wondering if anyone else is involved in these and how successful they are. How long? How much are you making? Any advice?
Mine is EcoQuest – it’s about 20 years old and made the inc 500. I found it because I had mold in my house and found a machine on the internet that would kill it. I bought it and it WORKED. The next morning my head wasn’t even stuffed! I was so amazed I wanted to start dealing them so, I do. It’s just difficult finding other people who care, people who want to help get these units out to the public who need them so bad. The EPA says over 50% of illnesses are from indoor pollution and nobody is doing anything about it! I’m trying to – and am amazed at how few care.
The one I am in is

It appears there is such a variety out there – some good, some not so good. But for those who succeed in a big way, what is it that sets you apart? For example, I don’t push, I am here when somebody needs what I have to offer. I’m just amazed that less seem to need that which is available. So much less than I thought. I put it out there to the public and since it’s not candy or explicit material, nobody has yet to beat my door down. So, tell me, what is it that sets those who have lines at their doors apart from those who don’t get paid attention to. MLM or not – it’s about marketing; getting product out to the market. If you aren’t WalMart or Sears, how can you get people to notice YOUR products – that happen to be so much better? ~Is there anyone successful enough to answer this?

Wait… "the Net and Network Marketing"?? Catch-22??

Those two should go together, hand-in-glove. And yet, Network Marketers have struggled to realize the near-infinite networking, lead-generating potential of the Web.

How can that be?

Network Marketing (sometimes called "Multi-Level Marketing" or "mlm") is all about…

* recruiting/lead generation/relationship-building
* sales conversion
* ongoing consumption
* replicating yourself through downline motivation and training.

How in the world could the Internet not be the best thing since sliced bread for Network Marketers? Because it’s being done, all wrong, by all the wrong people.

There’s no need to push (i.e., chase cold calls/prospects) when you can motivate potential customers and business-builders to pull (i.e., they want to call you to learn more).

Here’s how to Put The Net Back Into NETwork Marketing http://networkmarketing.sitesell.com/wotsnext.html
